Welcome to the Art Department

Transforming our upstairs utility closet into an art and homework space for the kids was a project born out of both necessity and inspiration—a way to give their creativity a home without it taking over the entire house! We started with Castell Pink paint from Little Greene Paint Company, a warm nude pink that sets the perfect tone for a cozy and inviting space. To bring the walls to life, I found some funky downloadable art packages on Etsy and curated my favorites into two gallery walls. I mixed frames, finishes, and mats from Target and Amazon to create an organic, layered look.

For organization, we painted an Amazon pegboard in the same pink hue as the walls and stocked it with bins full of art supplies from Michaels and Amazon, grouping by color for a curated and aesthetic touch. The desks, custom-built by a local carpenter, feature butcher block tops that are both durable (Indie 200% got green crayon on them the first night) and beautiful. Almost everything else came from Amazon, including the drawer pulls and kid-friendly chairs in a color that matched perfectly. Now, the kids have a dedicated space to let their imaginations run wild

Turning this closet into a creative haven has made such a big impact for our family. Whether it’s coloring sessions or school projects, this little nook has become one of the happiest corners in our house. Everything I used is linked here, so you can build your own version too!
